With over 90,000 employees worldwide, Capgemini is one of the world's foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services. Core departments within the UK company keep the business functioning effectively and efficiently and, in the UK, this includes some 160 people covering HR and pensions, finance, facilities, purchasing, legal and MIS.

In April, Core Services (Capgemini UK) revamped PRIDE, a recognition programme designed specifically to reward these individuals for exceptional effort, whether on a specific project or for an individual piece of work.

Katherine Dorman, HR business partner at Capgemini UK, said: "This team of people provide a key support role within the business and, as such, deserve recognition for the important work that they do. We already participated in an internal scheme called the OSCARS which covers ongoing achievement in the workplace, but we wanted something in addition to this to enable us to be spontaneous in acknowledging those occasions when team members excel."

With a team spread across the UK, it was imperative that the reward should be easy to administer and have widespread appeal.

"With the individual award values usually exceeding £50, we didn't want to post out hundreds of vouchers and so opted for a single gift certificate from Love2reward,” said Dorman. “Branded with our own logo, the certificate is sent with a signed letter from the area director, and the recipient can then decide themselves how they want to spend their reward.

“They can spend the value of their certificate on anything within the Love2reward gift voucher portfolio, which covers Love2shop. We know that the team appreciates the diversity of the rewards available as feedback tells us that people have chosen vouchers to spend on clothes, spa treatments and entertainment at places like the Hard Rock Cafe.

“The scheme is inclusive and flexible, with nominations made by both peers and managers, which is important. Once a month the executive team meets to decide who will receive the gift certificates, and what value is to be awarded. The reward may be given, for example, to an individual who has stepped in to take on additional responsibilities as an acting manager, or for helping to save the company money in a particular finance period.

“With gift certificates the whole process is easy to administer and manage, and the team gets the greatest breadth of choice of reward. Everyone wins.”
