2007-04-30
The average base salary for chief executives in America increased to $995,000 from $975,000 in 2006, according to the Mercer Human Resource Consulting 2006 CEO compensation survey. It also showed that 25% of CEOs did not receive a pay increase last year. Median total cash compensation packages, which comprise total salary and annual bonus averages, however, rose to $2.6m last year, up from $2.4m in 2005. The survey also found that benefits and perquisites (perk-like additions) accounted for 15% of CEO's total compensation packages.
