HR perhaps misreading high flyers

2006-08-01

Financial reward is the number one motivator for ambitious employees, according to a report by Innecto Reward Consulting. The High flyer trend report, which interviewed employees under the age of 40 and separately interviewed in-house HR directors, found a mismatch between what staff actually wanted and what HR managers thought they wanted. The HR professionals believed the key motivators for high-flying staff were personal pride and challenging work, however, the under-40s saw money as the main driver. The survey also found that 72% of employees thought they should receive a pay rise every year, while 75% of the HR professionals said they had lost at least five talented employees in the past year because they could not meet individual wage demands.
