The provider of job board software and CV services has organised a running team for the Sainsbury’s Sports Relief mile on 23 March.

Hanna Smith, HR director at Madgex, said: “There are a few charity runs that employees participate in throughout the year. Last year we did the Santa Dash.

“Employees here are quite keen fitness people, but we also try to make sure the benefits we offer from the health and wellbeing side are not just activity-led; they cover the wellness side as well.”

In September 2013, Madgex hosted its first health and wellbeing week, which was fully funded by the organisation.

Throughout the week, its 62 employees had the opportunity to take part in its running club, yoga classes, volleyball and swimming.

The organisation also provided free sports and Swedish massages, as well as fresh fruit and free salad lunches.

“We had different activities throughout the week,” added Smith. “That was the first time we had done it and it worked really well. The majority of employees were really engaged it that, so we’re going to make it an annual event.”

The Brighton-based employer has also been awarded a Simplyhealth Healthy Workplace award for demonstrating its commitment to employee health and wellbeing.

Smith said: “We approach health and wellness from all different angles. We have a low sickness rate and low turnover rate.”

Within its wellbeing offering, Madgex also offers flexible-working opportunities, enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption policies, childcare vouchers, a bikes-for-work scheme, an employee assistance programme, discounted gym membership, weekly yoga sessions, and discounted onsite Swedish massages onsite.

“It is just the way we approach the caring side of looking after our employees,” said Smith. “It sounds a bit clichéd, but we know that it is our employees who make us great, so it makes sense to look after them as best we can.”
