The Miller Group enhances health and wellbeing benefits

The Miller Group has enhanced a number of its health and wellbeing initiatives after signing up to the government’s public health responsibility deal.

Since signing up, the construction organisation has improved: support for employees with chronic health conditions, advice on active travel and the promotion of physical activity in the workplace.

It has also enhanced:

  • Assistance with smoking cessation.
  • General health checks for all employees.
  • Mental health adjustments.

The Miller Group has also committed to developing a new health and wellbeing programme. It will work alongside an occupational health provider to develop the programme, which aims to promote health and wellbeing, and the effective management of health.

Supply chain partners and sub-contractors will also be encouraged to get involved and the organisation will report annually on the health and wellbeing of its employees.

Stephen Dunn, group HR director at The Miller Group, said: “The health and wellbeing of our employees is extremely important to us, and at The Miller Group we have always been progressive in terms of taking steps to promote healthy lifestyles within the organisation.

“We signed up to the government’s public health responsibility deal as a means of reinforcing what we are doing already. 

“We have set a number of objectives for the coming months and in order to help us deliver these we have appointed a volunteer committee of health and wellbeing champions from across all regions of the organisation.

“Everyone knows that it’s not always easy to make healthy choices but, by creating the right environment, we are aiming to empower and support our employees to make informed, balanced choices that will help them lead healthier lives.”
