EXCLUSIVE: There are a number of challenges employers need to consider when relocating employees to Brazil, South Africa and Turkey, which will be discussed at Employee Benefits’ sister brand the Forum for Expatriate Management’s (FEM) EMEA Global Mobility Summit 2014 on 7 November.

Kelly Adam, client services director and Lisa Reid, director EMEA supply chain at global relocation organisation Cartus will discuss the challenges of international assignments such as issues during the pre-departure phase, cross cultural and language training to housing and security issues.

The session, Emerging markets: On the ground in Brazil, South Africa and Turkey aims to help give organisations support on how to achieve a successful relocation and return on investment strategy in global mobility.

Adam said: “Delegates will be given information and a strategic perspective on policy and programme recommendations that will help their organisations either solve relocation issues once they arise, or better yet, prevent them from occurring.

“Not all emerging markets are the same, each one presents their own set of unique challenges. Before moving assignees into these hardship locations, organisations need to investigate location’s key challenges and identify which ones require additional support.

It will provide details on a security checklist for housing in South Africa, hiring a car and driver to avoid hi-jackings in Brazil and ensuring assignees regularly check the news to avoid political demonstrations in Turkey.

Adam added: “It is a blanket policy approach which will identify to delegates practices they can take away and apply to their own relocation programmes.

“We hope it provides delegates with knowledge and tools to ensure assignees are effective in their new roles, from the minute they step off the plane.”

FEM’s EMEA Global Mobility Summit will be held at the Lancaster London on 7 November 2014.
