EXCLUSIVE: More than two-fifths (44%) of HR directors cite increasing employee engagement as one of their top priorities for people strategy in 2019, according to research by Reward Gateway.

Its survey of 500 UK-based HR professionals found that HR directors are also prioritising improving workplace productivity (56%) and connecting employees to the business (38%) for the year ahead.

More than three-fifths (63%) of senior manager respondents agree that bolstering employee engagement is a priority for this year; other top agenda items for senior management include boosting productivity (58%) and attracting talent (40%).

The majority (93%) of senior managers working in HR believe that employee engagement would improve if members of their workforce had the technology to recognise one another for good behaviours on an ongoing basis. Among HR directors, 88% agree with this, as do 86% of respondents overall.

Rob Boland (pictured), group director of product and client success at Reward Gateway, said: “The demand for mobile working continues to grow and, as the research indicates, HR professionals are recognising that HR technology increases employee engagement.”
