EXCLUSIVE: Discuss wellbeing strategies at Employee Benefits Connect in one week

Mark-Witte

EXCLUSIVE: There is one week to go until Employee Benefits Connect 2019, at which delegates will hear from Mark Witte (pictured), head of health and risk consulting at Aon, and Sarah Robson, senior communications consultant at Aon, about how to review benefits investment and devise a forward-thinking, data-based strategy to support employee health and wellbeing.

The session, titled ‘Prevention is better than cure: Challenging where you invest your benefits budget’, will form part of the health and wellbeing conference stream on Wednesday 27 February 2019.

Witte will begin by encouraging attendees to consider their benefits spend in relation to their health and wellbeing strategy, asking whether historical habits are still fit for purpose today, and for the future. He aims to demonstrate that benefits investment in this space needs to adopt a prevention-focused approach.

Witte explained: “If [employers] looked at all the employee benefits or wellbeing initiatives and stacked them up from prevention all the way through to detection, treatments and long-term support of the most seriously ill people, the majority of spend for UK employers is currently the back end of that spectrum.

“What we want to try and leave [delegates] thinking about is: is there anything [they] can do to spend that money slightly differently?”

Using insights from Aon’s Benefits and trends survey 2019, Witte will outline the potential use of data to help inform benefits strategy, give ideas on how employers can approach the development of their benefits package and discuss employee engagement and maximising investment.

Robson will identify key results from the aforementioned research report, as well as provide case study examples around communicating wellbeing.

Witte said: “What we’re talking about here is very much grounded in reality. What we’re trying to do is address two massive issues and hopefully provoke a bit of a debate among delegates to have a think about how they currently do things, and how they might do things going forward.”

Employee Benefits Connect 2019 welcomes all senior in-house HR professionals and will take place on Wednesday 27 February 2019 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
