Eyecare policy myopia

One-in-five (21%) companies do not have, or don’t know whether they have, an eyecare policy for their staff, according to research carried out by Specsavers. The survey of over 100 HR professionals across the UK also revealed that some employers (9%) were not familiar with the 1992 Health and Safety Regulations, which stipulate that eye tests should be provided upon request for employees who use visual display units (VDUs) and glasses should be provided if required. However, almost three-quarters (73%) of companies not only offer eyecare, but also state they do so in order to be a responsible employer and not just to comply with the regulations.
