Pilots at EasyJet may find themselves closer to the no frills experience enjoyed by customers after the airline confirmed that it was looking at the possibility of cutting free tea and coffee for its cabin crews.
As part of efforts to reduce costs the airline has said it is also looking at a number of other measures, including reducing the number of meals †provided to pilots on long-haul flights from two to one.
It has been reported that if the proposals come into fruition crews will have access to free hot water but will have to provide tea bags and instant coffee for all sky high cuppas.
A statement provided by EasyJet read: “We can confirm that we have been in discussion with our staff representatives on improving crew efficiency, due to the challenging economic climate.These discussions have involved a variety of subjects, including the reduction of waste and other unnecessary costs. By doing this, it will enable us to continue offering our customers great value low-fares. At this stage we have made no changes to the current provision of food and drinks for our pilots and cabin crew.”
