Police Healthcare Scheme appoints Healix for second opinion service

The Police Healthcare Scheme (PHS) has appointed Healix to provide a second opinion service for its private healthcare.

The PHS is run by the police and supports more than 14,000 police officers, police staff and their families across the UK.

The majority of claims made are handled by the scheme itself, but if an individual requires medical expertise to assess a claim, or claims are made for acute medical conditions, the scheme operators then contact the Healix team for advice and assistance.

Paul Tonks, general manager of the Police Healthcare Scheme, said: “When I was appointed to manage the Police Healthcare Scheme it was apparent that the scheme was crucially lacking medical expertise and support.

“Healix has more than adequately filled that void and my staff and I are delighted in its continued support and advice.”
