Vodafone is offering one-off interest-free loans of up to £5,000 to employees who have been seriously affected by the recent floods.
The mobile phone giant is based in Newbury, Berkshire, which suffered from flooding along with the surrounding areas where a number of its staff live.
The short-term loans are intended to help employees whose homes were flooded pending insurance claims. Vodafone will also reimburse employees who incurred out-of-pocket expenses as a result of being temporarily displaced from their homes by the floods or while trying to get home on the Friday of the week concerned. These expenses include items such as temporary hotel accommodation.
Alan Thomas, head of reward, recognition, policy and employee relations, said: “Following the floods, we’ve just introduced a one-off interest-free loan of up to £5,000 to support people who may be in financial difficulties because their personal properties were flooded.”
