VIDEO: Steven Poelmans: Work-life balance beneficial on many levels

A focus on work-life balance is beneficial from a macro level, societal level, organisational level and individual level, said Dr Steven Poelmans, professor and director of the Coaching Competency Center at EADA Business School in an interview with Debi O’Donovan, editor of Employee Benefits.

He added: “Academic studies demonstrate a relationship with a variety of performance indicators, going from firm performance, commitment to job satisfaction.

“We need to help employees to deal with this work-life interface. If not, it will fly back like a boomerang in the face of the employer.

“The crucial question is: How are we going to do it?”

Poelmans spoke about workplace flexibility on 26 June at the Employee Benefits Summit in Alicante, Spain.
