Supporting employees’ health and wellbeing  is one objective featuring in many employers’ benefits strategies.

But could employers’ focus on staff nutrition and provision of healthy food options in workplace canteens be derailed by the latest gadget heading towards employees’ desks?

A new desk microwave, which looks suspiciously like a printer, has been designed by London designer Steve Gates. The device even plugs into a computer, which could enable staff to conceal any unhealthy eating habits

However, on the plus side for employers, the device could also help to  boost productivity if employees do not even have to leave their desks to heat up their favourite snack.
