Unicom has launched an employee discounts scheme for its 300 staff.

The telecommmunications firm introduced the online scheme, which is provided by Reward Gateway, after the results of a staff survey showed that incentives were one of the benefits staff felt would make Unicom a good place to work.

The company also wanted to ensure staff felt valued and rewarded at work.

Its online Universal Rewards scheme enables staff to earn cash back and take up discounts at a wide range of retailers including Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.

Unicom has also partnered with the Gourmet Society in order to offer staff a 75% discount at restaurants, cinemas and hotels.

Employees can also take up the scheme via their mobile phones and use their phone’s GPS function to find out about nearby offers.

Since the scheme’s launch earlier this month, 47% of employees have made savings on travel, while 34% have used the scheme to save money on entertainment and days out.

Mark Draper, project development manager at Unicom (pictured), said: “My team has been working on the introduction of staff benefits for some time. We’re really pleased that, now we’ve launched them, staff have reacted so positively to both the Gourmet Card and the Universal Reward Scheme.

“These benefit staff at all levels of the business and, with a bit of smart shopping, we will each easily save £1,000’s per year.”
