Tarmac introduces technology scheme

Building materials organisation Tarmac has introduced a technology scheme for its 7,000 UK employees.

Tarmac launched the SmartTech scheme, provided by Reward Gateway in partnership with Currys PC World, in July 2016. The scheme enables staff to purchase technology products on an interest-free basis from their net salary.

The scheme gives employees access to up to 5,000 technology products, such as tablets, laptops and fitness trackers, from a list of gadgets that have been pre-approved by Tarmac. The programme utilises an automated application approval process, and purchased products can be delivered or collected from Currys PC World stores on the same day.

Tarmac introduced the scheme because it felt it was well-suited to its workforce demographic, and to help drive engagement with its benefits offering.

Jodie Gilligan (pictured), people and information manager at Tarmac, said: “SmartTech gives our employees access to the latest technology products without making a huge dent in their salary by creating a payment plan that works for them. We’re really proud to be able to offer Tarmac employees an affordable and flexible option to buy the technology they want.

“From a[n organisational] perspective, the automated application approvals and payroll processing makes administration easy and saves us time. Take up levels in the first month have been exceptional and we expect the trend to continue upwards in the run up to Christmas.”
