National Express favours cash reward over pre-pay cards

National Express has axed plans to use costly pre-pay credit cards to reward staff and has instead opted to credit special staff accounts with the equivalent of a cash sum.

Managers at the coach firm can reward high-performers with a branded cheque for any sum. Awards of over £500 need to be signed off by a senior manager.

Employees can buy a gift from the firm’s website or opt for vouchers from various retailers and service providers.

The value of the fake cheque is credited to an account set up for each employee.
