Tradeteam staff win Best Business Angel Award

Staff from UK drinks distributor Tradeteam have been honoured for their role in the community at the seventh Sheffield’s Night of Honour.

Six members of Tradeteam’s Witch (We’re in the Community Helping) group won the Best Business Angel Award. The prestigious accolade recognises individuals who have made a real difference to the lives of people in their community.

Margaret Dawson, Trevor Chambers and Wayne Goodinson of Tradeteam along with their spouses and friends raised more than £200,000 for local charities over the last 17 years.

Tradeteam is part of the global logistics company DHL and employs over 2,400 people.

The team’s volunteering and fundraising activities has included helping out families and individuals who have suffered hardship, sponsored runs and even dressing up as Boddington’s Beer Barrels.

Sheffield charities to benefit from their efforts this year include Sheffield Children’s scanner appeal, Moorland House, Prince of Wales Hospice, High Hopes Riding for the Disabled, Sheffield Paranoia Society and the Harvey Phillips Trust.

The glitzy ceremony which took place at the city’s Megacentre was attended by many of Sheffield’s dignitaries, sports stars, and hosted by celebrity guest presenter Katherine Kelly (who plays Becky MacDonald in Coronation Street).

Stuart Parker, General Manager at Tradeteam’s Tinsley distribution centre said: “We are extremely proud of the Witch team, its fundraising events play a very important role in our calendar each year.

“This is an incredible achievement and all the hard work and time they put into helping others speaks volumes of the great heart these lovely people have.”

Organiser, Louise Davies said: “It’s really encouraging to know that there are so many people who are making a difference to the city and beyond, and Sheffield’s Night of Honour is all about them.”

Sheffield’s Night of Honour is an initiative of Hope City Enterprise, the charity of The Megacentre.
