Precious Cells has launched a new benefit for its 40 employees that allows staff and their families to cryogenically store their stem cells for free.

The benefits scheme, Accellerate, includes adult stem cell storage for both employees and their family members, as well as cord blood and cord tissue storage if an employee wishes to store the stem cells from their baby’s umbilical cord. Employees and their families can then use the stored stem cells in treatment for  conditions.

The benefit also features access to the organisation’s stem cell registry, and provides personalised reports, such as human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing if an employee needs to find a tissue match for a transplant, and a personalised genomic report to help employees understand potential genetic risk factors and traits.

Employees will also have access to a personalised wellness report, which includes a health screening service that analyses an employee’s current state of health and provides guidance on areas where they could possibly make improvements.

The organisation has introduced the benefit scheme with the aim of enhancing employee engagement and motivation, and to aid with talent attraction and retention.

Providing staff with this benefit also aligns with Precious Cells’ organisational mission to connect potential stem cell donors.

Dr Amr Abid, chief operating officer at Precious Cells, said: “Attracting and retaining the right talent is vital to the success of Precious Cells. We wanted to adapt to the evolving needs and circumstances of our employees to be part of our future success, and that meant bringing something completely new to the table, something which has never been offered before.”
