Employee Benefits Awards 2013: Best car and travel benefits

Winner: Axa UK

Scheme: Axa UK Car Scheme

The judges for this category were looking for a successful strategy that has made company cars and/or allowances effective as a benefit within an organisation.

Axa UK’s car scheme incorporates three funding methods: an employee car ownership scheme, contract hire and a salary sacrifice arrangement. These give employees the greatest possible flexibility and choice when selecting a car. This was the first time the judges had seen such a complex strategy using all three methods concurrently.

The judges said: “Axa was trying to give people the best flexibility to engage with a programme in a way that suited them.”

The winner said: “Our key principles were around flexibility and we drove the low CO2 emissions message.”
