GlaxoSmithKline appoints new fleet provider

Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has awarded Zenith Provecta the contract to manage the fleet of 1,200 vehicles under its Employee Car Ownership scheme (ECOS).

The contract includes maintenance, motor insurance, breakdown recovery, accident management, short-term hire and insurance that covers the difference between the actual cash value of the leased vehicle and what is still owed on the lease contract.

Zenith Provecta now provides the firm’s monthly payroll software, which assists in the calculation and deductions of HM Revenue and Customs compliant payments. In addition, a bespoke employee website can be accessed directly through the GSK intranet. The site enables employees to obtain quotes, place vehicle orders, trade up or down from their benchmark allowance, manage the administration of the vehicle throughout its life-cycle and submit their monthly mileage returns.

Employees’ mileage will be recorded through Zenith Provecta’s MyMiles system. The system will automatically remind drivers to record their monthly mileage and ask key health and safety questions before allowing each entry to be recorded. The system also allows for an upload of fuel card spend information.

At the end of the contract, GSK employees can simply hand the car back to Zenith Provecta, sell the car privately to repay the loan – keeping any surplus cash above the outstanding loan – or repay the outstanding loan and keep the car.
