National Grid has added reloadable shopping cards for Sainsbury’s and Asda to its employee discount scheme.
The new offerings were added to the scheme during its annual enrolment period at the end of 2010. The electricity and gas firm has been offering the scheme, provided by P&MM since December 2009, but has updated it with the provider’s new interactive portal.
Staff at National Grid can access discounts at national and local retailers via the telephone, online voucher codes, cash-back, SMS codes and retail store vouchers. Staff can also access P&MM’s discounted travel concierge service.
Nearly a third (30%) of the firm’s 10,000 UK employees are registered and using the scheme.
Caroline Adams, employee benefits manager at National Grid, said: “The new website will not only aid us in offering our staff a vast array of discounts but will help us boost employee engagement.
“It is a very effective way of rewarding and helping our diverse workforce make the most of their income.”
