As head of group reward, Taylor’s responsibilities include setting the Tui Group reward strategy, executive compensation, benefits management, international assignments and pensions. Previously, he was head of reward and recognition for Tui UK and Ireland for three years, where he led the development of a reward strategy after the merger of Tui Travel with First Choice. HOT 100Debbie Thompson
Reward manager, Cheshire West and Chester Council

Thompson joined the council soon after it became a unitary authority in 2009. Before that, she spent five years in reward and benefits at Royal Liver Assurance. Her first HR role was in 1996 at MBNA (now Bank of America), a year after joining the firm as a management accountant. Before that, she held accountancy roles, such as at Capital Bank. At the council, Thompson is leading a major change programme that will see the authority merge and change four previous set of terms and conditions, delivering cost savings of around £5 million.

Head of reward and policy, Grant Thornton

Todd started his career in tax with HM Revenue and Customs before moving into consultancy roles with Deloitte and PWC. He then moved to Norwich Union, becoming head of reward for the general insurance and RAC businesses in Aviva. In 2007, Todd set up his own company working on reward solutions for various clients. In his current role as head of reward and policy for Grant Thornton UK, Todd advises on all aspects of total reward and reward policy.

Colleague engagement team leader, Asda

Trott joined Asda in 1996 as a checkout operator in the Brighton Marina store and quickly progressed in to management. He served as customer service manager before becoming a store people manager at stores on the south coast and south London. He moved from Brighton to Asda’s Leeds head office in 2007 as a colleague relations team adviser. Over a year ago, Trott joined the colleague engagement team to work on staff recognition schemes, and has been involved in supporting Asda’s health and wellbeing agenda.

Total reward manager, Yum! (KFC UK)

Truter’s role at Yum! covers all compensation and benefits activity, from pensions, share schemes and compensation cycles to reward knowledge building. He previously held reward manager roles at Centrica and DHL Express UK, covering total reward projects including annual pay and bonus review, flexible benefits and total reward statements, reward technology and communications, global and domestic mobility and immigration, and trust, insurable and voluntary benefits. UK head of employee benefits and wellbeing, KPMG

Turner is a member of KPMG’s UK performance and reward team and her areas of specialism are employee benefits, recognition and employee wellbeing. She has been with KPMG since 1998 and previously held roles in the diversity and employee relations specialisms, and as HR business partner. She is responsible for the firm’s overall proposition across benefits and wellbeing, working with a range of internal stakeholders and external vendors. KPMG recently renewed its flexible benefits scheme and is planning more changes to its package, plus widening its communications tools.

International benefits manager, Thomson Reuters

In six years as international benefits manager with Thomson Reuters, Valjy has been responsible for overseeing the benefits arrangements in the APAC, EMEA and Latin American regions. His role covers more than 90 countries and over 27,000 employees. Valjy provides technical, advisory and implementation resources to local HR, and facilitates and manages benefits change projects. He is also responsible for managing the international benefits information through the local HR and finance structure. Previously, he was pensions manager at Unilever and an international benefits consultant at Mercer.

Reward and recognition manager, Cancer Research UK

In two years in her current role, Vivier has implemented a new pay and grading framework and an improved benefits offering, as well as extending and clarifying many of the ‘psychological benefits’, such as flexible working. She also teaches the World at Work Reward Professional qualification.

Head of resources, The Pensions Trust

Walsh joined the Pensions Trust in 2000 as head of human resources and a member of the senior management team. Buildings and facilities management was part of his remit from 2001, IT infrastructure from 2005 and PR and communications from 2010. His career began in local government personnel management. He became airport personnel manager at Leeds Bradford Airport and a member of the Airports Executive Management Team. Walsh is primarily responsible for the people aspects of the business as well as a range of support functions for the trust.

Global head of reward, Electro-components

Ward joined Electro-components in 2007. As global head of reward, he is designing and implementing reward strategies to support the organisation’s evolution into a global business. The UK business, RS Components, won ‘Most effective total reward strategy’ at the 2011 Employee Benefits Awards and ‘Most effective benefits strategy’ at the 2011 HR Excellence Awards. Ward has also held reward roles in the telecoms and travel sectors.

Warman has worked at Marks and Spencer for over 30 years in a variety of roles across retail and head office. She moved into reward in 2000 and was appointed head of employee relations and reward in 2009.

Head of health and wellness, EMEA and India, Goldman Sachs International

The main focus of Watt’s role is managing the health and wellbeing of Goldman Sachs’ staff through the delivery of on-site facilities, case management services and programmes under the ‘GS Wellness Exchange’. He also has responsibility for the firm’s health and disability plans across the EMEA region. Before joining Goldman Sachs in 2007, Watt spent 10 years working for Mercer’s UK healthcare practice.

Head of compensation and benefits, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

Wilkins has been head of compensation and benefits at Freshfields for 10 years. He is responsible for managing a range of reward activities covering pay, benefits, pensions and international secondments. Before joining Freshfields, Wilkins was at PWC working within international tax and mobility.

Benefits leader, PWC

Wilkinson’s role sits alongside PWC’s reward and recognition team in the human capital function. She joined PWC in 1979 and her expertise is mainly around flexible benefits and health-related benefits such as occupational health. She is responsible for delivery of the benefits strategy.

Total reward subject matter expert, Ericsson

Woods joined Ericsson as total reward subject matter expert in July 2011. He previously served as reward and recognition leader at professional services firm Tribal Group for almost three years. He has also advised procurement outsourcer BuyingTeam on its reward direction and strategy.

Director total rewards India, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia, Johnson and Johnson

Young joined Johnson and Johnson in 2008 as the total rewards cluster lead for the EMEA emerging markets. He has been instrumental in implementing a global compensation framework in the emerging markets and leading a number of total reward initiatives. This month, he will take up the role of APAC total rewards director with Johnson and Johnson. Before joining the company, Young spent 13 years in HR and total reward with the likes of GlaxoSmithKline, Coca-Cola and Honeywell.†
