The logistics of communicating with employees is the biggest issue for East Coast Mainline, says John Hayhurst, head of HR at the train operator, in an interview with Jennifer Paterson, senior reporter at Employee Benefits.
Hayhurst says: “We are such a diverse workforce, spread over hundreds of miles, from the north of Scotland all the way down to London.
”The biggest challenge is getting a consistent message and consistent reward and benefits packages that fit both Scottish employees, Yorkshire employees, etc.”
East Coast Mainline revamped its voluntary benefits package in 2013 with an aim to deliver consistent benefits to all employees.
