Product news – Mercer sets up service to help guide trustees

Mercer Human Resource Consulting has set up a service to help trustees of final salary pension schemes through the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) assessment period.

When companies become insolvent their pension schemes need to be assessed in order to determine whether the PPF will take on their liabilities and pay members’ benefits.

Mercer’s project management service has been set up to help trustees fulfil their responsibilities to scheme members and the PPF during this process.

Costas Yiasoumi, principal and member of Mercer’s pension scheme wind up team, said: “The PPF has made it clear that trustees need to prepare a plan to guide schemes through the assessment in a timely and cost-effective manner.”
