The basic pay for the average UK manager†rose by†4.4% in the last 12 months, according to the Croner Reward Management Rewards Survey 2006.
The survey also revealed that the average UK manager is currently paid £31, 289 and that regional variations mean that managers in Central London earn almost 28% more than their counterparts in the South West region. The average pay for managers in Central London is the highest in the country at £36,210 which is 15.7% above the national average.
Other figures show that the computer services sector has the highest average pay at £36,210 which is 15% above the national average. The lowest paying industry is timber and furniture with average pay for UK managers coming in at £26,000, 16.9% below the national average . The largest year-on-year earnings movement has been seen by the vehicle and parts sector.
