Barclays, Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan are among the top 10 highest-paying organisations for directors in the UK, according to research by Glassdoor.
The research, which is based on anonymous base salary reports for jobs with ‘director’ in the title shared by UK employees on Glassdoor between September 2013 and September 2016, found that Deutsche Bank is the highest-paying organisation for UK directors, with a median base salary of £126,008.
Barclays ranks second with a median base salary of £125,000, followed by JP Morgan with a median base salary of £123,383.
The research found that the banking sector is the highest-paying industry for UK directors, with banking organisations filling the top five positions in the top 10 list. HSBC ranks fourth with a median base salary of £120,000, and Morgan Stanley ranks in fifth place with a median base salary of £115,000.
The top 10 highest-paying organisations for UK directors are:
- Deutsche Bank: median base salary of £126,008.
- Barclays: median base salary of £125,000.
- JP Morgan: median base salary of £123,383.
- HSBC: median base salary of £120,000.
- Morgan Stanley: median base salary of £115,000.
- PWC: median base salary of £115,000.
- EY: median base salary of £110,000.
- BlackRock: median base salary of £102,070.
- KPMG: median base salary of £102,000.
- Oracle: median base salary of £97,440.
Dr Andrew Chamberlain, chief economist at Glassdoor, said: “This report shows that directors at the top paying [organisations] in the UK can get six figure salaries, and that is not even including bonuses and stock.
“Banking and professional services dominate, and it’s interesting that just one tech firm makes the list. Almost all of these firms have their UK headquarters in London, proving that the City is still the place to be when it comes to leadership salaries.”
