Admiral Group, Hilton, Pets at Home, The Sovini Group and TSB Bank are among the organisations recognised on the UK’s Best workplaces for women 2018 list, compiled by Great Place to Work.
The list, which has been launched for the first time this year, recognises organisations that go beyond statutory requirements to ensure that women are treated fairly in respect of pay, recognition, training and promotion opportunities and catering to caring responsibilities.
The list also takes into consideration what employers do to ensure female staff have a fair and positive work experience, in which they are able to contribute their talents and develop personally and professionally.
For employers to be eligible to feature on the list, women must make up a minimum of 25% of their workforce, and a minimum of 25% of senior roles must be held by women. Organisations must meet the qualifying criteria for Great Place to Work’s Best workplace list, with a minimum trust index score of 70% for large organisations and 75% for medium organisations, and there must be an 80% confidence level from women within the workforce.
Eligible organisations must also have less than a 10 percentage point difference in the trust index scores between men and women, and either a favourable, equal or one percentage point difference between men and women to the question ‘people in my workplace are treated fairly regardless of their sex’. Lastly, employers have to submit a 1,000-word statement describing what the organisation does to support women in their workforce.
Employers in the large category that have been recognised for 2018 include hospitality business Hyatt Hotels Corporation and professional services firm REL Field Marketing, while organisations featured in the medium category for 2018 include IT organisation Workday, charity WaterAid UK and software provider Reward Gateway.
