Motivation – definitions – Internal award ceremonies

These can be used to highlight employees’ achievements. Annual staff functions such as award ceremonies and parties can be offered tax-free up to a limit of £150 per employee per year.

A recognition award via an internal award ceremony can be the culmination of an employee incentive scheme intended to improve employee motivation. The ceremony can be used to recognise strong individual or group performance and provide employee recognition without being costly for the employer.

Often an announcement posted on the intranet or an award ceremony in front of colleagues to highlight the employee’s achievements can contribute to employee engagement.

Targets can be set for which an employee or team of employees can be rewarded in the internal award ceremony.

Seeing their colleagues receiving recognition can also be a tool to further employee engagement among the rest of the workforce.
