The University of Reading has introduced an online reward and recognition portal.
The organisation’s Celebrating Success scheme, provided by AYMTM, is part of the employer’s commitment set out in its HR Strategy to recognise and reward achievement at the earliest possible opportunity.
The system allows managers to nominate employees for awards, which can be redeemed for vouchers from a wide range of retailers, allowing staff to select something they really want.
Nominations are aligned with the university’s values of working together and professional behaviours.
Awards can be made at any time throughout the year, subject to approval and budget availability, with managers able to easily track their budget and the status of nominations.
The majority of staff are expected to redeem their awards online, but an alternative paper-based process has been made available to ensure the scheme is fully inclusive.
Claire Eckett, HR manager (rewards and benefits) at the University of Reading, said: “The Celebrating Success Scheme has quickly become very popular with staff and has become a useful and valuable addition to the University’s reward arrangements.”
I would love to see some examples of the achievements being recognized in this case. The key to success of Recognition Programs like this is the ongoing communication of the institution’s goals to all stakeholders.
A good example of tackling engagement! I would like to know how they have specifically linked the rewards to achieving business goals. Are you measuring the contribution to the bottom line?
