Mercer appoints Emma Douglas UK leader for Mercer Workplace Savings

Mercer has appointed Emma Douglas UK leader for Mercer Workplace Savings.

She has joined from BlackRock where she was head of defined contribution (DC) sales from 2007, responsible for DC sales strategy and execution for its bundled and investment-only business, as well as the management of DC client relationships.

Between 2000 and 2007. Douglas was head of DC pensions and institutional client relationships at Threadneedle Asset Management. Previously, she held roles at JP Morgan Investment Management, Morgan Grenfell Asset Management and Fidelity Investments.

Fiona Dunsire, UK Head of investment consulting and executive sponsor of the new Mercer Workplace Savings solution, said: “Emma is a well-known figure in our market, having taken a leading role in the development and delivery of DC pensions. Her extensive knowledge, together with her strong experience of managing teams and developing client relationships, will be of great value to our new workplace savings team, which she will lead.”

Douglas added: “This is an exciting proposition to be involved with at a time of real change in the marketplace. DC has evolved with its share of challenges, but I believe this new solution offers a pragmatic response that gets it right for current and future generations.

“Mercer’s workplace savings platform supports employers which are concerned about providing a robust benefit to employees, and it should greatly benefit members as it offers professionally managed investments, cost efficiencies from corporate buying power, and greater flexibility of savings options.”
