Japanese government body seeks modern-day ninjas

Something for the weekend: Do you have stealth-like moves, a way with people and a talent for acrobatics? If you do, then you might make the cut as a modern-day ninja.

The local government body in the Aichi Prefecture in Japan is recruiting six ninjas to help promote tourism in the region.

Successful candidates must be capable of performing handsprings, dance moves and skill with traditional weapons. While Japanese language skills are preferred, men and women of all nationalities may apply for the role.

Ninjas will receive a monthly salary of 180,000 Yuan and undergo a month-long training programme.

Once qualified, ninjas will be expected to discuss the region’s heritage with tourists, perform and pose for photographs while also maintaining a secretive ninja-like air.
