Novartis unifies car perks

Novartis is to harmonise its car fleet across its 11 UK sites and reduce the number of its providers from five to just one.

From 12 May, the pharmaceuticals firm will provide a contract hire scheme and a cash allowance plan for its 800 fleet drivers in order to simplify the company car benefits.

The car benefits offered previously differed between sites, and included a car ownership scheme, an employee car ownership (Eco) scheme and an all-employee car ownership plan (Aecop).

Five providers have been used to provide these various schemes to employees, however, once the simplified fleet policy has been implemented later this month, then only one fleet provider will supply the vehicles.

In addition, the firm is considering introducing flexible benefits early next year and hopes to include an affinity scheme whereby staff have the option to purchase a car at a discounted rate negotiated by Novartis.
