Wrap Film staff take up voluntary benefits

EXCLUSIVE: Wrap Film Systems has seen 42% take-up of its voluntary benefits scheme since it was launched at the end of February 2013.

The programme, Your Choice, was put in place to help boost employee morale and to give something back to the cling film and aluminium foil exporter’s 310 employees.

Sarah Drummond, HR manager at Wrap Film Systems, said: “It’s good to give something back, especially at the moment, when pay rises are in short supply.

“Our employees like the discounts on offer and it helps to put some cash back in their pockets. The benefit programme has no associated cost so really it is a win-win situation.”

This is the first time the organisation has offered a benefits programme, so it had to start employee communications from scratch. Drummond added: “We started with posters on noticeboards to get the word out initially. We then followed that up with meetings with supervisors and managers who filtered the news down.”

Employees also had face-to-face presentations with provider Personal Group using an iPad application to demonstrate how the programme works.

The programme includes retail discounts, travel insurance, dining-out offers, wellness gift vouchers, experience days, discounted car breakdown cover, optical discounts, a health cash plan and a death-in-service benefit.

“Our employees are learning how easy it is to save money,” said Drummond. “It is a change in habit and how [they] spend money. I make sure they know I’m using my cards and getting my discounts. It all went smoothly and staff appreciate what they have got.”
