The programme, ‘Weight a Minute’, aims to encourage employees to proactively review their eating habits, increase fitness activity and to make these changes sustainable.

During the 12-week programme, participants at its London offices were offered the opportunity to join a ‘mid-journey’ session with a dietician to discuss any questions regarding their progress and to further encourage behaviourial change.

More than half (56%) of participating employees took advantage of this option.

Total weight loss has been tallied at 74.6kg, an average loss of 2.76kg per person.

Jay Butler, health and wellness manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, said: “We are delighted with the conversion rate and total weight loss results.

“The group were motivated and, with support from our onsite health services team and encouragement from our fitness service provider, the ‘Weight a Minute’ programme was a real success.

“We are ensuring employees continue to receive appropriate support as required, which includes a follow-up session and talk with our senior primary care nurse and an opportunity to share feedback.”

The bank has also rolled the programme out to staff based at its Chester office.
