UniCredit Bank boosts cancer awareness

EXCLUSIVE: UniCredit Bank has seen nearly half (45%) of its 900 London-based employees participate in its cancer awareness programme since it was launched in February 2014.

The financial services organisation, working with provider HealthScreen UK, provides cancer awareness, education workshops and early detection through cancer screening services.

The cancer awareness programme was launched with a series of presentations from clinical experts, access to online information, and health screenings to identify early signs of breast or prostate cancer.

UniCredit Bank employees are also now offered breast and prostate cancer screening as an employer-paid benefit, provided by HealthScreen UK.

The aim of the new benefit is to lower its private medical insurance premiums.

Lynn Rios-Shaw, head of HR for the UK, Americas and Asia at UniCredit Bank, said: “Like most other employers, we have seen an increase in cancer claims as well as private medical insurance premiums over the last couple of years, and we decided to do something about it.

“The awareness workshops and early detection cancer services offered by HealthScreen UK mean we can offer our employees the best opportunity to detect and deal with cancer as early as possible.

“The campaign has been really well received and we’ve seen an increase in the awareness around cancer across the organisation.

“With the average cost of cancer under PMI being between £30,000 and £40,000, the payback is very simple.

“Cancer is a serious issue and the support from the clinical staff at HealthScreen UK meant that we were able to deal with it in a professional, yet compassionate, way.”
