Servisair employees get bonus for identifying excess baggage

Servisair employees working at John Lennon airport in Liverpool are being offered a bonus for every Ryanair passenger they catch with excess baggage.

Staff working for baggage handler Servisair are reportedly given a bonus for every bag they flag as too heavy, but are only eligible for the payment once they have identified a certain number of bags a week.

A statement from the baggage handler said: “Servisair’s airline customers, of which Ryanair is one, incentivise ground handlers to achieve contracted service levels based on performance indicators which include: on-time performance, lost baggage statistics, baggage delivery times and many others, which at some airlines include excess baggage revenue.

In the case of Liverpool’s John Lennon airport and this contract, Servisair has taken the decision to pass some of this performance commission on to its frontline staff.”
