The PQM, which was launched by the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) in 2009, recognises employers that offer pension schemes with good-quality governance and low charges, clear and ongoing communication with pension scheme members, and good contribution rates.

Fewer than 100 organisations have received the PQM Plus, including heating and plumbing organisation Wolseley, professionals service provider Thomas Miller and drinks manufacturer Maxxium.

Amanda Willis, pensions manager at Peel Ports Group, which operates ports and terminals across the UK, said: “We have worked really hard to deliver what we believe is a best-in-class pensions provision for our employees, and we’re delighted that our commitment to provide a valuable pension arrangement to the whole of our UK workforce has been recognised.

”Our enhanced pensions provision is part of a wider flexible benefits employee reward package that is open to all UK-based employees at Peel Ports.

“The package includes access to life assurance, healthcare, critical illness cover, discounted travel insurance, childcare vouchers, a bikes-for-work scheme, discounted gym membership as well as a variety of competitive retail discounts. Employees can manage their own reward package online to suit their own family circumstances.”

Justine Tate, managing director of the Pension Quality Mark, said: ”Peel Ports Group has been awarded our Pensions Quality Mark Plus award for its DC pensions scheme, which ranks it among the best in the country for this type of employee investment.

”The award will undoubtedly help it attract the best candidates to its workforce, helping it to be recognised as a major employer in its industry.”
