Healthcare organisation Partnerships in Care has seen a 10% take-up rate among staff who have registered an interest in its car salary sacrifice scheme, which launched in June 2015.
The benefit was introduced after employee focus groups highlighted cars as a benefit that would be of interest to staff.
Following consultations with employee benefits firm Capita, Partnerships in Care implemented a car scheme via a salary sacrifice arrangement, provided by Fleet Hire.
Partnerships in Care’s 5,000 employees have access to 4,000 new cars through the scheme, which includes a 130g/km carbon cap to encourage green car take up. More than 40 new car orders have been placed since the benefit was launched.
Staff can obtain quotes via an online platform, accessible on computers, tablets and smartphones, providing ease of access for employees that work shift patterns and who do not have a dedicated work computer.
The organisation communicated the scheme to staff through a number of roadshows run by Fleet Hire. These included formal presentations and drop-in sessions.
Leanne Austin, senior HR business partner at Partnerships in Care, said: “We felt the car scheme was an excellent idea that would help us to attract and retain staff within our sector of the health industry, and have set the car lease terms at three years in a bid to try and retain staff for longer.
“There has been a very positive reaction to the scheme so far among employees.
“Take-up has been around 10% of those people who have registered an interest in the scheme, which is above our initial expectations for the scheme.”
