The Sports Council for Wales is offering its employees funded health checks.
Following feedback from an employee survey, the employer arranged for doctors and nurses from a local surgery to visit its Cardiff site to carry out cholesterol, diabetes, body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure checks. It now plans to roll the checks out to its two other sites in the next few months.
The checks, fully funded by the employer, will be offered to all staff.
Employees at the Cardiff site who chose to take the benefit, were given a time slot to undergo the tests and then discuss their results with an onsite doctor. These tests took place in August and now employees at the Carmarthen location will be offered checks over the next two months while a date has yet to be arranged for employees based in Plas Menai.
Jackie Evans, HR officer said that working in the sports industry makes employees particularly health conscious and that it was important to give them what they asked for. “When you do a survey, you need to link the outcomes with an action plan,” she added.
