Romanian fortune tellers given income tax reprieve

Superstition appears to have influenced fiscal policy in Romania where politicians have dropped plans to tax fortunetellers and witches amid fears they will be cursed.

The country’s senate rejected a law drafted by officials that demanded tax from psychics and outlined measures to ensure they were held liable for flawed predictions.

According to Sky News, Alin Popoviciu, of the ruling Democrat Liberal Party, who proposed the change, said politicians were frightened of being cursed.

It’s a shame, especially in such tough economic times, that the Romanian government will not have its palm crossed with silver.
