American Express, Barclays and Centrica are among the top employers that have been awarded for their benefits and policies to support working parents.

The Top Employers for Working Families Benchmark, founded by charity Working Families, recognises employers that support parents, carers, flexible working, work-life balance and career development.

The highest-scoring entrants are named as the top employers annually for working families.

The top 10 organisations were:

  • American Express
  • Barclays
  • Centrica
  • Citi
  • Deloitte
  • EY
  • KPMG
  • Northern Trust
  • Southdown Housing Association
  • The London School of Economics and Political Science

Other employers included in the top 30 were the Bank of England, Capital One and law firm Hogan Lovells.

Smaller employers with less than 250 employees were also recognised. These included Forster Communications, University of Bristol Students’ Union, and Sacker and Partners.

The annual list has been announced to coincide with National Work-Life Week, which runs from 22 to 26 September.

Barclays and Centrica were also among the winners of the 2014 Top Employers for Working Families Special Awards announced in June.

Sarah Jackson, chief executive of Working Families, said: “Working Families is delighted to announce the results of this year’s Top Employers for Working Families Benchmark and Small Employer Benchmark.

“In this landmark year where the right to request flexible working has been extended to all employees, it’s great to see so many good employers with inspiring policies and practices to support parents, carers and flexible workers.”
