Software firm VMware will discuss how employers can construct an effective employee value proposition (EVP) and the impact this can have on staff engagement, at Employee Benefits Live 2015.

Ian Wright (pictured), senior manager, compensation and benefits at VMware, will also examine how an effective EVP can enhance the overall brand of an organisation and connect to talent management, as well as other ways that employers can motivate staff and improve productivity.

Wright will speak on the second day of the conference, 22 September, in a session entitled ’Developing a strong employee value proposition to enhance talent management’.

VMware’s own EVP is based around its internal values, which include execution, passion, integrity, customers and community. The organisation ensures staff are aware of these values by using communication methods such as posters. It also encourages managers to emphasise and portray them in internal meetings.

Wright says: “It’s so important to have values that really represent us as an organisation.

“We are a people-focused organisation and we utilise our values in the way that we reward and motivate our staff.

”Any employees who reflect our values are rewarded for it, which really underpins the way we designed the reward package.”

For instance, the organisation allows staff to take paid leave to undertake voluntary work as part of its ‘community’ value.

Employee Benefits Live 2015 will take place on 21-22 September at Olympia National, London.

As the largest dedicated reward and benefits event in Europe, it provides compensation and benefits professionals with the opportunity to network and share ideas and best practice.
