World Duty Free Group to discuss staff recognition

World Duty Free Group-recognition EB Live-2015

World Duty Free Group will speak at a session focusing on how employers can enhance staff engagement through recognition schemes at Employee Benefits Live 2015.

Alongside Neal Blackshire, benefits and compensation manager at McDonald’s Restaurants, World Duty Free Group’s UK reward and HR system manager, Karen Waterman, will discuss what workplace recognition entails and why it is important for effective employee engagement.

The session, which will be held on 21 September, the opening day of the two-day conference, will also touch upon how employers can use recognition to improve staff motivation, as well as the role recognition plays within a reward and benefits package.

Waterman says: “Employers need to not only define recognition, but also what it means for their organisation. It’s also important to involve employees.”

During the session, Waterman will share some of the key recognition strategies utilised by World Duty Free Group. For instance, staff involvement is something World Duty Free Group incorporates into all of its reward and benefit initiatives. Waterman explains: “We have a paper-based employee suggestion scheme, focus groups and benefits champions who meet twice a year to discuss any improvements our benefits might need, and any ideas for new benefits.”

She adds: “Recognition, if instant, timely, fair and effective is the key to boosting employee motivation and engagement, as well as retention.”

Employee Benefits Live 2015 will take place on 21-22 September at Olympia National, London.
