Morrisons is to conduct a four-year, £30 million makeover of its facilities for staff.

The revamp aims to provide employees with rest areas that help them to recharge and relax during breaks. It follows employee feedback for more modern and comfortable rest spaces in the workplace.

The upgrade will include the development of casual dining and informal seating areas for staff, free wi-fi access, mobile phone charging points, subsidised coffee machines and improved washrooms.

In addition, the supermarket chain will enhance some of its staff kitchens and will expand the range of hot and cold food available.

David Potts, chief executive at Morrisons, said: “We are a business that listens hard to colleagues and responds wherever possible. We asked our staff for their views about their stores and many commented about their restrooms saying they would like them to be more relaxing and offer a better food service.

“This investment will ensure they are provided with the facilities and food to help them recharge during their breaks.”
