Audio branding organisation PHMG has added wedding leave and ‘proud parent’ leave to its benefits package to help mark this year’s National Work Life Week on 1 to 5 October.

Staff at Manchester-based PHMG, which employs 450 workers across the UK, US, Canada and Australia, will be entitled to an extra week of paid leave if they get married, as well as a day off for their child’s first day at school.

Jason Daye, operations director at PHMG, said: “Your wedding and child’s first day of school are two important yet stressful life events, so we wanted to relieve some of the pressure on staff around these times.”

The new benefits will be launched during National Work Life Week, and has been communicated to staff using the organisation’s global conferences, which announce new developments, incentives and perks. PHMG has also provided information on its intranet platform.

The leave entitlements will add to the ‘PH perks’ programme, which includes incentives such as an on-site bar, haircuts and beauty treatments, free gym memberships, a discount platform, games consoles and pool tables, an ice cream van during summer, access to financial advice, a car valet service and a duvet day on an employee’s birthday. The latter involves all staff being entitled to the morning off the day after their birthday, in addition to a choice of birthday gifts, including chocolate, beer, prosecco and non-alcoholic beverage options.

Daye said: “Employee burnout is a huge issue in the UK, and when 526,000 workers are reportedly suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety, it is essential as [an organisation] to promote the importance of a good work-life balance.

“We spend the majority of our waking lives at work so we wanted to create a fun and vibrant culture through out benefits package. It’s something our employees really appreciate and has helped us have a happy, healthy workforce.”
