German technology publication T3N will enable employees to receive salary payments in digital currency bitcoin.
Staff can opt to be paid a portion of their salary in the alternative currency. Because bitcoin is not considered legal tender in Germany, T3N employees can also choose to receive bitcoin as an additional tax-free benefit up to the value of €44.
A bitcoin payroll system, provided by German bitcoin payments firm PEY in partnership with US startup Bitpay, will be utilised to trial the bitcoin salary payments and benefits offering.
